Government....

Leadership is something that is permiated in everything from our daily activities to our work as well personal lives and activities but does the government need to be involved in the leadership decisions that are made? Leadership is even present in our government and the policies that they put into place.

The government shows its presents of leadership in on particular policy of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX). This is through the checks and balances that SOX puts into place to help prevent accounting issues from causing businesses to fail or to flounder. The government is also evident when it comes to monopolies, the government tries to prevent monopolies from occurring by imposing policies to help prevent the monopolies.

Is it necessary for the government to be involved with policies and leadership of organizations? Or is the government involvement necessary to help ensure that organizations remain within the US?

Social Networking

Social Networking...

Social networking can help people become more connected with other people in their field of interest, as well as their area of employment. Social networking can help people obtain jobs or improve upon their jobs, but you have to be involved in the correct social networking environment, as well as stay connected with the group that you sign up with. Social networking can also help people stay on top of the up and coming events and changes within their field of interest by being connected with practitioners as well as new graduates. All in all social networking is valuable and something that can help people get their name out there in terms of their skills and abilities.

Last class

Last class, the virtual class was very interesting and enjoyable. I was nice to have various professors come in and talk to us as a class on different types of leadership and how the Internet and the e-world all fits together.

One of the challenging parts of the course though was the inability to speak to the speakers as well as the professor. It seemed like there was a slowness to the progression of the class due to having to type our comments but all in all the class was very enjoyable and interesting. Approaching this class I thought that it was going to be drawn out and long because we weren't going to be all be in the same room but, the class turned out to have a very comical aspect to it, as well as one where there was a lot of interaction between members of the class as well as with the speakers. All in all the class was very enjoyable. Thank you Jeff for opening my eyes to this type learning as well as working environment.

Leadership

I have started to read the book the first 90 days and in this book it talks about how leaders are made or broke within their first 90 days. The book also talks about what leaders can do to show their teams that they are leaders with, a positive attitude, and the right skills and abilities to be the leader that the team as a whole as well as the individuals needs. So far this book has been very informative in discussing what really makes a good leader. I found it interesting that good leaders are made in only 90 days. But does this mean that a medeoker leader can not become a great leader by taking the time to find their faults and attempting to improve upon them to become a better leader? Understanding your faults and mistakes is part of the battle and process.

Leadership takes place in many different setting in face to face as well as in an electronic world. Being a leader in an electronic environment can be more difficult than in the face to face environment. Being a leader in the e-world means that you have to confedance in your employees to be able to complete the tasks presented to them without the direct supervision and support that a "regular" office job would provide for. A benefit of the e-world is that organizations can employee people from all around the world and the employees are able to all work together through online programs to complete tasks. Every situation is different and requires different skills and all leaders have skills that are better suited to face to face leadership or an e-workd leadership than others.
